Snowshoeing & Cross-Country Skiing
Peaceful Paths and Forested Adventures Await
Trade the lift lines for the quiet thrill of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The Running Y area is surrounded by winter landscapes perfect for gliding or trekking through the snow—whether you’re just starting out or seeking a more challenging backcountry adventure.
For beginners, Moore Park in nearby Klamath Falls is an ideal spot to try these winter sports. This 458-acre city park transforms into a snowy playground once the temperatures drop and the roads close to vehicles. With a variety of gentle terrain, it’s a serene place to practice your stride—right in town and easily accessible.
Looking for more rugged terrain? Head about 30 minutes west to the Summit Sno-Park area. Here, you’ll find miles of groomed and ungroomed trails that wind through peaceful forests of ponderosa pine, juniper, and western white oak. It’s a haven for nature lovers and seasoned skiers alike.
Or experience Crater Lake’s snowy wonderland on a free, ranger-led snowshoe hike. Walks run weekends and holidays from late November to April, plus select weekdays during school breaks. Tours start at 1:00 pm and explore 1–2 miles of off-trail terrain through forests and meadows.
Whether you’re gliding along quiet trails or forging new paths in snowshoes, winter in Southern Oregon offers unmatched beauty and adventure—just beyond our doorstep.
