Hiking

Explore scenic mountaintops with breathtaking lake views, lush valleys, and brilliantly colored meadows.

Hiking at Running Y Resort offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Southern Oregon. With scenic trails winding through forests, meadows, and along the shores of Klamath Lake, hikers can enjoy breathtaking views and encounter local wildlife. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely nature walk or a more challenging trek, the resort’s trails and nearby mountains provide a memorable outdoor adventure for all skill levels.

Moore Mountain

Explore 32 miles of trails encompassing Moore Park, Buck Ridge (nearest to our resort), and other beautiful vistas. The multi-use, urban trail system is open year-round to all non-motorized user groups.

Walking, hiking, mountain biking and trail running are all popular, complimented by expansive views of Upper Klamath Lake and the Cascade Mountain peaks.

Klamath Geo Trail

Constructed in 2016 as a community initiative, this 2 mile-long recreational trail was aptly named due to a nearby geothermal plant generating the geothermal energy used to heat Oregon Tech and Sky Lakes.

Enjoy an opportunity for relaxation with stunning views.

Brown Mountain

Discover a network of trails on Brown Mountain, including the High Lakes Trail (a groomed trail that extends around the mountain for those looking for technical adventures) and Rye Spur (a hidden gem that tops out on a rocky, scenic outcrop, making it the perfect out and back hike or mountain bike loop).

Explore Further

Take on the 4,000 foot climb to the summit of Mt McLoughlin! Less than an hour away, this dormant stratovolcano boasts the highest peak in Southern Oregon.

Crater Lake National Park also awaits, with views of the deepest lake in the United States (formed over 7,700 years ago). We recommend checking out the Cleetwood Cove Trail.
